Lots of desserts or cakes are served together with vanilla sauce. Most people often prefer to make the vanilla sauce from powder. However, the real homemade vannila sauce tastes so much better and is also much healthier! And to be honest, it is not very compliated to make it.
Ingredients:
400ml of milk
125ml of whipped cream
1 vanilla bean, scraped or 1tbsp of quality pure vanilla extract
50g of sugar
2 large egg yolks
3tbsp cornstarch
1/8tbsp of salt
Recipe:
In a bowl whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch and salt.
In a medium saucepan bring the milk, whipped cream and vanilla to boil, stirring constantly to prevent it from scorching. Whisk 125ml of the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture. Pour this egg mixture into the saucepan, constantly whisking it into the hot milk to prevent clumping. Heat the mixture over medium heat until thickened. Do not let it boil.
Strain the vanilla sauce through a fine mesh sieve.
Serve immediately or let it cool and store covered in the fridge. Will keep for up to 3 days. Can be served cold or reheated to serve warm.
From this recipe you can get about 600ml of Vanillesoße.
